I got these 2 young reticulata on Saturday. They look healthy to me. Eating blackworms 3 times a day, nothing left after 45 minutes. Quarantining in a 20g long that has 2 AC 50's on it now, temp 82.

I have several tanks available and was thinking of this progression:
Keep them in the 20g bare bottom for a few more weeks to fatten them up. Then a 40g breeder with a little Estes sand until they're big enough for the 280g 72x36x25 (plywood, got the materials, haven't built it yet). I was thinking of keeping them in the smaller tanks while the rays are small, so they find the food more easily. How big should they be before going in the 280g?
Tankmates: Arowanas in the 280g.

They look good Tommy...If I didn't pick up the 2 big rays I was thinking to get 4 of these myself. hahhahahha let go another trip in June?

Thanks for the comments.

Sticky, I'll definitely go on that trip again in June.

Nice Retics :)

Be careful with the smaller tank sizes.. as it might seem as if they don't produce alot of waste, but they do. Plan on doing alot of frequent water changes.

Tank size and finding food is not an issue, the bigger the tank the better.. If they are hungry, they will look for food. The 20g/40g will be good for quarantine and medicating, though.

I have 5 juvie retics in a 100g tank right now, and I am changing %30-%70 of the water every day, if not twice a day.. Depends on how much poop is on the pre-filter, how much I feed, and if they are going through meds.. I can tell when the water quality is going south because a froth of bubble collect on the water line ~ and that is a sure sign of poor water quality.. The bubbles collect everytime I feed heavy and/or don't change the water that day..

They are very healthy looking you shouldn't have any troubles.. try mixing in mysis shrimp or krill with your black worms.
