So ive had my 2 needlenose gars for about a week now in a 55 gallon tank with a pleco and no other fish besides feeders right now(my feeders are rosies). Im surprised how little my gars eat.(1-2 feeders a day) they are very tame, and they are not as skidish as advertised. they are comfortable with movement around the tank, and are very fun to watch. im am nothing but happy to this point. i was a bit worried before getting them, but i am now relieved and very please with my purchase

they are very interesting, but so far they are very mellow. does anyone have any idea what i am able to feed them besides feeders? i know ghost shrimp are an option, but is there anything else?

crickets or other bugs, but they are pretty hard to get off of live foods.

i agree. they are very tough to get off of live foods. i never even got mine to take crickets.

does anyone know if i would be able to get my needlenose gars to eat ghost shrimp. also are needlenoses sensitive to light? when i turn on my light, they swim near the bottum rather than the top.

mine did readily eat ghost shrimp.

mine always seemed to be very jumpy and skittish. i think it's just part of their nature.
