Hey sup, this is my first post and I want to share my brackish tank with you guys. Salinty is at 1.009 and been running for 3 months. Contains Seven-Spotted Archerfish, Banded Archerfish, Green-Spotted Puffer, and Pictus Catifsh (I know not naturally brackish). I love my Archers imo the coolest fish. They remind of Pokemon that uses watergun LOL. Whenever I hold crickets or superworms with tongs they immediatly shoot at it. The archers are really skittish and don't like it when it has been dark and then I suddenly turn on the light they look all zombie like. I know its wrong to have the Pictus in there and I only got it because It was with the Archers at LFS in freshwater and didn't know anything about Brackish till I started reading more about it. I thought they are similar to the Columbian Catfish and figured it can withstand the salinty when i slowly started to put marine salt and is doing great still. I'm thinking of donating the Pictus and getting some Bumble Bee Gobies. My GSP loves to swim around and explores the tank constantly, especially the bubble screen. I just really love my tank and here are some pics.

:welcome:to MFK. Nice setup. diggn those archers. have you gotten spit in da face yet? lol JK. Welcome!!

Nice tank. You'll find your Archers will grow quite fast with what you're feeding them. :)

Yeah the Pictus will need a much lower salinity - preferably freshwater. Good luck with your plans

nice and simple. i had a similar setup. 4 common archers and a green spotted puffer.
keep up on your waterchanges with those fish, the GSP alone is enough in that tank
(very messy fish).

you will need to upgrade eventually though GSPs can get up to 6.5" and will need
to be given high end brackish/marine conditions to thrive. i have mine in marine now,
and he's doing great.

the archers will eventually need a bigger tank. internet says 55gal min, but
bigger the better.

ditch the plants. they will die at that salinity and ruin your water. i got fake ones. an they
looked great. will post a pic of my tank. i would get some more wood in
there too. it will give them some more places to hide so they may
become more confident. im biased though, i think bogwood is great.

id pass the pictus back too. not exactly a brackish fish. i wouldnt get the
bumblebee gobies either. they will be in the tank all of 5 mins before the
archers eat them. try knight gobies if you want a bottom dwelling fish.

and welcome to the forum.:) ask as many questions as you like, the brackish section
is gerenally quieter that the rest of MFK, just think of it as a very exclusive
club. there arent as many people with brackish setups as other standard tanks.

Nice tank.. :D

I would imagine the bumble bee gobies would become a snack to the archers. Why not trade the pictus in for a columbian shark? They are really fun to watch.

I agree that the Columbian shark is fun to watch but please please please don't buy one until you get at least a 75 gallon tank at minimum. I've had my two columbians for less than a year and they are already almost a foot long.

Yea I didn't bother mentioning the tank size because those archers will need a 75 minimum as well.

the archers look very healthy, good to hear they are doing well. You'll have to move the pictus to a different tank once you start raising the salinity.
