Good Morning MFK!!!,
Frist of all, this community is off the chain. For all of you that started this site and those of you that contribute and support this community, I commend you. I just wanted to post a few pics of my sa/ca ciclid 55 gal. tank. This tank has been set up for 4 months (my first tank). I know the water is a little cloudy, i did a 30% wc about 3 hours ago. hope all of you like it and i know that i will be a regular here for now on. 2 questions. Is my tank over populated?(7 cichils ranging form 2"-6") Please ID the little guy in the last pic? Thank You everyone, for making this the best fish community. :headbang2 -Wayne

Hi, your tank is looking good, to answer your question, right now I don't think it is overstocked. But a 55 gallon is recommended for 1 full-grown Jack Dempsey, so yes, in the long term you are way overstocked.:)

i like the set up of you tank. looks like you have a couple texas cichlids and JDs in there. that white/blue fish is some sort of african. your tank should be ok for now depending on filtration but those cichlids, minus the african, will get way too large for the tank. a 55g is really only sutible for the JD by itself. the texas cichlids will get about 12" which is the width of a standard 55g. i hope this helps you out.

Hi!
Welcome to the forum. :)
Yes, that last one is a jack dempsey, but I personally do not think you are overstocked. Just keep a very close eye for aggression (while keeping in mind, they are cichlids. they will always chase and nip each other a bit).

Welcome to MFK.

As the others above me stated, the tank is ok for now, but it is overcrowded because 1 full grown Jack Dempsey alone will be tight in a 55. Other than that, I do like your fish choices and how your tank is set up. That is one monster moss ball too! I wish I could find one that large. Best of luck and enjoy the site and your fish!

that moss ball was only 20 @ the lfs. i loved it and had to have it, everything else was bough in a lot with a 45 gal. hex with everything to set up for only 160, i thought that i got a hell of a deal, what do you think, thank you craigslist!! here are a few pics of the 45 gal. wifys "community tank". she said she dont like "KILLER FISH"
thanks - Wayne
