a few minutes ago iwas trying to get a firemouth out with my net this damn guy goes everywhere so i scared my 3.5" oscar in my 55 gallon tank and he went inside a roman building and couldnt get out so he went trough a hole but it wasnt big enough so both of his sides are now scaleless with flesh sticking out is so horrible is like that video where 3 piranhas accidently attack their tank mate oscar in a feeding and leave him with 1/2 of his body only my concern now is he is still eating but one of the sides looks like as if u were about to fry it(when u leave it totally white without NO scales) will he be okay, die? survive? will FW aquarium salt help? i rly rly loved this oscar all his fins are excelent though is just his flesh and scales omg it looks grotesque, tips?

he could die he would be really succetable to bactiarel infection but if you treat he may react to that i've had some beat up fish some lived some died you just have to take away all tankmates that might chase or be aggresive so he can rest

I would put him in a sperate tank if you have one with a cycled filter. Add salt at one teaspoon per gallon doing 50% water changes a day for about a week. He will be very susceptable to baterial and fungal infections until he starts to heel. I think he will be ok. It is important to keep his water as clean as possable.

good news.. so far somehow it looks like it was a little bit better than a few hours ago he is swiming normal and i did a 65% water change i dont have another tank they are all stocked... but no1 bothers him in there all of them arent cichlids so dont show aggression towards him, there is a 1.5" jack dempsey but he is a baby, scared as hell of him lol, but anyways im doing daily maintenance there he should be better in a couple of weeks, one thing though he will make it about infections, i have always had beat up fish sometimes and none of them ever have gotten infections due to it, instead healed probably because there was barely any fish in the tank but them.. i think i just have very good luck
