Still growing pretty steadily on a diet of NLS every day, and krill/bloodworms 2-3 times a week. 40% water changes/gravel vac once a week.

I had a small female convict with it for about a month. It was fine for a bit over 3 weeks, until it snapped mid-day. Beat the con up pretty bad. The convict is now in my other tank with a JD/FM and recovering well.

Still not sure of its sex, but I'm convinced its a female. If you have an idea on sex feel free to share.

How much bigger did it grew from last time? With that big of a fish tank it should grow pretty fast. Just keep at it. Here is the lastest picture of my guy. Hope you don't mind me post it here.

Eyes are about half the height of its head... Pretty fish but I don't think it's going to grow very large.

I got it in June @ about 1". In july it shot up to 2". August I seen a bit slower, to about 2.25-2.5". That picture taken about 2 days ago and it's about 2.75-3".

In july I fed mainly bloodworms/krill as it was stubborn and wouldn't take pellets, but starved it to get it on pellets. That's when the growth started to slow down, but I've started last month introducing frozen bloodworms/krill 2-3 times a week.

How old was yours in that picture and what size?

Interesting, never knew that. That's actually a bit re-assuring as it's in a 30g for now, and if it's anything like other female flowerhorns I'll be happy with it reaching 5-7 inches which would leave me a lot more time to keep it in that tank.

Swifty- I got my guy the 2nd week of June at 1" so he should be as old as yours. He is about 4.5" now and eats like a pig on NLS (3mm) and Hikari gold (small) pellets. He is always hungry even though his belly is bulging.

I remember that you had to starve him/her a while ago due to your fish not eating pellets. Just keep doing what you are doing and eventually your fish should grow in no time. In my experience with flowerhorns, the warmer the water like around 86-89F the fish would grow faster (eats more) especially when they are still young at these sizes 1"-6" but will need more aeration due lesser O2 in the water. Keep me posted.
