i like it. maybe you can pick up some cheap black paint and paint the back black. that would look nice. I liked the ornaments that were in there befor too(fake wood). did you try them out with the new sand?

wow im not the only one that uses bathtubs as temp tanks lol

no I just got bored with the old decor, but now I can alternate every so often...

ha ha I couldnt afford the 50gal rubbermaid bin... :D

Looks good!;)

How much trouble was it to change the substrate? I have a 55 gal w/ gravel and I want to change it to pool filter sand. Give me a few tips please. I've been putting it off for a while cause I'm afraid I will have to recycle my tank.

$40 got 120lbs of sand, the 4" sanitary Y and 3 pots...

well basicly I pulled all the ornaments out then transfered the fish to the tub and floated my bio wheels with them and just scooped out the gravel then put in the sand. not much to it really.

but I have a FX5 with 2 Emp 400's I am not sure what you have for filtration...

I like the setup before the change but you cant please everyone. Hopefully your fish have settled down by now cos they look really stressed and unhappy in the second photo. You will probably get a mini "new tank syndrome" effect adding all new substrate so keep yur eye on that.

I agree!

You should of left them in the tub.....they look happier....and have bigger foot print...LOL:ROFL:

Good try though.:)

Wow, a little much on the filtration. Looks like a 29 gal. in the pic. That would be a turnover of about 60x on your tank if it were a 29 gal.

I've got two 29 gal cycling right now, so maybe I'll wait until they're ready and put my fish in the 55 in those and do the sand and just keep an eye on my water before I put them back in.
