My 5 inch Flowerhorn x Jaguar mix

Hello, I just wanted to post a pic of my flowerhorn x jaguar mix, not sure on the sex, the father was a red dragon flowerhorn and the mother was a regular jaguar, I got him last may at about 3 weeks old so almost invisible, almost a year later and here he or she is

He looks nice. He has a lot of Black on him though, is he stressed out?

Looks neat. Very unique fish. I wonder if all the offspring turned out a beautiful as him. I love the boyd shape and color.

He is matching his surroundings. Notice the black background and substrate. Doesn’t seem to be too stressed.

Oh yeah that makes sense. It's really strange how different their color looks on different color substrates.

Thank you, he doesnt seem to be stressed out just that his substrate is black so maybe it makes him look darker

He or she seems to be getting alot thicker and a pretty tall body so possibly male, also the father had a medium sized kok so I'm not expecting too much

No the head size is a recessive trait. Any time flowerhorn are bred to cichlids that don't have a big head you are almost guaranteed to have all of the offspring that have no big head. In fact when you breed flowerhorn to another flowerhorn it is very important for the female to have a big head too if you want a good percentage of the offspring to also have a large head.
Hey Anzo1993 I bet that fish is so aggressive. I love his colors and bright red eyes. Very cool looking hybrid!!!
