I have been trying to keep more "peaceful" rift lake cichlids in my tanks and this is the result. It isn't much, but I enjoy them greatly :D

75 Gallon:

Placidochromis phenochilus "Tanzania" - Adults and Juvies
Labidochromis ceruleus "Nkahta" - Adults
Moba frontosa - 1
Burundi frontosa - 3
Synodontis sp. leopard - 2
Aulunocara borleyi - 2

55 Gallon:
Pseudotropheus sp. Acei "Tanzania black"
Placidochromis electra - 5
PP fry
Bicolour 500 - 1 male
Synodontis sp. leopard - 2
Neolamprologus Multifaciatus - who knows...

Looks cool. Interesting set-up. I would consider reducing the amount of driftwood and adding more rocks in its place. Driftwood can soften your water. I have a little driftwood in my African tanks, but also have a ton of Texas holey rock to offset the impact.

You have some great shells. I need them for my Tanganyika tank.

Are you using actinic bulbs?

I use a mixture of epsom salt, baking soda, and marine salt to keep the GH, KH, PH, and mineral content up in my tanks. The driftwood isn't able to offset the buffer and I also run purigen in all the tanks to remove any tannins or organics from the breakdown of the wood.

The shells are just from those dollar store shell sets. Cheap but effective and my shellies like them. Most craft grade shells will do :D And to answer your other question, I am running actinic bulbs on the tanks with a white bulb as well. I find it helps to keep the algae down and my frontosa are more active in the slightly blue light.

Good deal on the shells. I got all of mine from http://cichlidbreeding.com/index.php. I found some at Hobby Lobby, but they were kind of expensive for being so small.

I could see the blue tint in the tank. I use actinic and 10K t-5 light fixtures with my fronts as well.

They have some nice shells there and some other products I like as well. I will have to keep that site saved.

Sounds like you are using the same lighting I am as well. I started out using that on my salt water tank when I had it and just decided to change all my lighting to match it. All of my tanks are in the same room and I didn't like each tank having a different tint. I think I might have a bit of OCD in me.

Very nice
