so this tank started up in november 2011 and in the last year has gone through a lot of changes and a lot of plant growth. it started out with one set of plants and 2 rainbow sharks i had from a hex tank i started the year before and has evolved over the year with the adding of new fish and plants. i'll start with the pictures i took when the tank was first set up and then add pictures and videos i took throughout the year.

first video i shot of the tank after setup

these photo's were taken 4 months later. at this point the corkscrew swords have taken over the top right corner and marks the beginning of the battle for land between those plants in that corner. this is what i love about fresh water plants.they are aggressive towards their neighbouring plants and you can actually watch them day to day battle for every inch of space and light they can get. also some plants grow so fast that if you don't trim them they grow into a mass at the top of the tank and eventually separate from their roots and drift off for greener pastures, as i found out with the green leafy plant in the middle of the tank. only 4 months and it had grown to the point that it was a mass at the top of the tank almost ready to detach and drift off, killing all the plants around it in the process. in these photo's you can see how i was drifting from this project as i had lost my vision for what i had wanted it to be. i made a big mistake with the discus fish and not having finished the stand just added to my frustration with this project. as well as my huge lace sword literally disappearing, so aside from feeding the fish and changing the water i wasn't doing anything else to it. anyway here's the pic's.
