I saw these on sale on Amazon during Black Friday for $8.09. I went ahead and picked up two of them to replace the Aqueon QuietFlow 20’s that we’re on my son’s ten gallon glofish tank. They definitely move more water. However, they are a bit noisier that the QuietFlow 20’s were. The noise is not the pump itself, but is a falling water noise. The QuietFlow 20’s were completely silent. I switched the bio media from the old filters to these, and just used their standard filter packs for now. I will probably switch those for some of my own sponges or filter floss when they need replaced. Since these are in our pet room the noise is fine for me, but I wanted to let you all know in case anybody is looking at these filters for a tank that needs to be quiet.

So far, I’m very pleased with these.

Good deal!
You can quiet down quite substantially the cascading noise by simply adding DIY blotted water shields for each Penguin (or any HOB). If you cut the bottles correctly, you don't even need to attach them. Quick, cheap, problem solved. Good luck!
