Seems like my 9 year old albino oscars is about finally ready to die but just wont give up on life. Never seen a fish so tought. Id thought id just share his story.
Bought a pair as a baby about 9 years ago or more(before i could even drive). Also before i knew they got huge, and they were moved to a 60 gallon then 220 when i had the money to buy the large tank. At one point it lived with 12 other fish: 3 silver aros, 4 other oscars, 2 plecos, 1 large albino channel cat, flower horn, and a jaguar. At one point my tank got an internal pairesite which ended up killing both my plecos, my 2' channel cat, the jaguar, 2 oscars (one was one of my old ones) and almost killed my large silver. This oscar was deformed and pretty much dead, i kept it in a 30 gallon on my floor for about two weeks or so. Just layed sides wayz but finally came back to life. Wasn't the same but lived fine for about 3 more years till this day. Has had to fight large fish (26" silver aro, 16" hybrid catfish, and other large fish like2' gar)for food and tank space. For the past few months is only hangs around the top of the tank in the corner usually by the powerhead, but as of last week it finally layed on the bottom of the tank and stopped eating. Now i have it in a 40 gallon where its laying on its side just breathing. It wont eat but it wont die either. I hasn't eaten in some time now. I just never seen a fish refuse to die more then this oscar. Pratically die and came back to life from something that killer a bounce of fish bigger then it, had to haev gotten sick atleast twice after that, hasn't been eating or swimming in days now. This thread is for my 9 year old oscars that has more guts and heart then any fish out there.
Few phots oldest to newest.
