I have been away from the hobby for about five years but thanks to everyone at this site I was inspired to get things going again. I have been keeping and breeding cichlids since I was about 14. It was something I got completely into working at pet stores and ending with hundreds of tanks of my own. Life got in the way and I got rid of everything but a seriously neglected 90 gallon.

A friend needed some help setting up a tank and I stumbled over the amazing folks here and a week ago I moved my 90 to a central location in the house and got everything going. This morning I added fish and expected to be posting a thank you with pictures of everything.

Well I added the fish and they looked great. My dog took an interest and slammed her paws into the glass, about an hour later water started pouring out of the tank. The seam on the bottom front blew out. After some scambling the fish are safe in a small tank and the tank sits empty in the garage. All water is now cleaned up.

I need some advice. Do I seal it myself or buy a new tank? For peace of mind the new tanks sounds like a great plan but being 11:00pm on a Satruday evening I do not know what it costs and will probably need to wait until noon tomorrow to find out. Does anyone know the cost?

Getting a new tank would leave me with glass for a futrure build :) but resealing it would I'm sure be more cost effective. What tips do you have on resealing a tank of this size? My only experience is with smaller tanks and that was probably 10 years ago.

Any thoughts or advice would be great. Here is a picture pre-leak.

you can reseal the tank.. Just back careful and make sure you clean all the silicone off it. A new tank will give you the piece of mind that its not going to break but also cost alot more then resealing does. If money is not an issue then buy, but if it is then reseal.
