Well MY African clawed frogs have bred. YAY!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 I put them into a 20 long half filled with 70 deg. water (their 29 home tank is 78) on Sat. and now 2 days later there is eggs everywhere.:nilly: I didn't think to realize though that the sand would stick to the eggs so all of the eggs on the bottom covered in sand will probably not make it. So there's a good 100 or less that is attached to other stuff so I'm sure they will make it. Just have to wait and see if the male did his duties.:D

I have pics of them in amplexus( froggy love) and will have to take pics of the eggs if my cam can even take such small pics. I will update every so often to show you all, I've had the female for like 5 years and have been waiting to get her a male and just got her an albino male less than a week ago. Unfortunately I have final exams today, tom, and wed. so I'll try and get pics up soon. YAY EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!:grinno::grinno::grinno:

Well I found sometime to Update! this thread between exams and what not.

Well here's the male to start with, notice the black hands.

is she heterozygous for albino, or will all the offspring be gray and hetero? it'd be cool to get a mix.

Day 1(6/7/09)
Frogs laid eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 2(6/8/09)
Well the eggs already have hatched, their still attached to where they were laid but their out of their shells. They looks like little C-shaped grey ugly boogers with 2 dots for the eyes....no joke. :) I even saw one wiggling a few minutes ago. Tommorow or thursday they should be free swimming. I have a heater in the tank which I will turn on after they start moving around.
Here's a few tank shots of what the pair bred in. Pretty cold water(68ish) and half-filled.

It was filled more just to clarify since it was so low in the pic.

The mixes are called pie-bald. Their like actually partly albino and the mixed grey. I heard someone that they don't happen often at all. Like 1 out of 125K it will happen. Looks like I will need to get up to 125k frogs.:D

Day 3(6/10/09): Well they are free swimming if you can call it that. They just wiggle like 50mph and somehow they swim like this. Cool thing is it looked like they grew already and you can see the two little eyes. Right now they are sitting at the top of the water just hanging there vertically. Their as big as this----> l

Hmm thats cool. What do you intend to feed the babies? This is a neat journal.

They will be fed what I feed the adults just crushed up into a powder. They will be eating Reptomin products, it's for turtles and aquatic frogs. Also I am going to throw in some Hikari first bites, since it's a powder and I love Hikari.

Here's some new pics of them. Their a few days old, so their a bit bigger now. I think tommorow will be the first day of them eating, I tried yesterday and they didn't even go after the food or even move. I think their still using theiy yolk sacs for food still. This is day 5(6/12/09).
