Want to know if my african knife can be kept will my tiger oscar in a 120 in peace. 120 will come this summer if everything works out right. And is this too many fish for a 120. Dimensions 48''x24''x24''
1 Tiger Oscar
1 Senegal Bichir
1 African Knifefish(Maybe)

i would say try and see how they get along, but african knives only get about 8" and do best in groups,so because of the size difference could get bullied by the oscar,my oscars are ok with my rck but only because the knife is equal in size to them now, before they used to keep him in his pipe except for feeding time!

Their fine together now and the knife is about 5" or and the oscar is about 4" no fights yet. Still need to know I my future 120 will overstocked.

African knives fight, and do not do well in groups ??

They are good tankmates, but the Oscar will eventually start thinking of the knife as food.

The African Knife is the most peaceful out of the Knife fish, but they aren't shoaling fish. They perfer to be by themselve or as a pair (if they pair off). An Oscar can get quite large and girthy. While an African Knife will be pretty slim. A full grown Oscar at 16" might try to eat an 8" African Knife. When we're talking about African Knives, you mean X. Nigri right? If it's a P. Afer it'll definitely be fine with your Oscar. They get quit large themselves and are pretty secretive.

african knives(X.Nigri) usually do best in groups, assuming your not talking about N.Notopterus(asian featherback) as i have seen these confused before,X.Nigri has no dorsal fin and only gets to 8" N.Notopterus gets to 12"-14" in aquariums and in my experience is more suited to living with an oscar

is the 120 going to replace your 55 if not just keep it in the 55 and move the oscar to the 120 or do you want them to go into the same tank if so i'd have to say it might get eaten . whats the stock going to be in the 120 oscar and what else sounds like it won't be to over stocked by the fish you have listed

The 120 is going to be in addition to the 55 but is mainly for the bichir and oscar but main question is their any additionally tankmates that can go with the oscar and bichir. P.S. The 120 will probably be the last tank I will get in my parents house so this tank will be it for at least 5 years.

i would move the oscar, bala shark and bichir to the 120 and leave the rest where they are then you could add maybe 2 more bala's and what about a decent sized black ghost knife and maybe a catfish like the sun or a syno that would make a nice community:)
