Sure you'd take him, Chub_by He's a cutie. How big is he? Mine went from 5" to 1.5' ~5 lbs in one year, which is less than average growth. You may not have much time to look for a new home.

There is a reason channels are the most farmed fish in North America: for 1 lb of food they put on 0.5 lb of body mass.

Not knowing the identity of the other cat, I'd say cats bully other cats far more often than not. Even of different species, genus, or family.
