Picked this up as a C. Fowleri but came to find out it is an apurensis. Either way this has grown to be one of my favorite fish. So much personality I sometimes come in to find it Chillin upside down! Blew my mind. Check it out it is in a 120 with a black wolf and two irwinis. The APURE is about 8" and the Black wolf 7.5" and two irwinis 7". I've been feeding Mainly tilapia but I'll throw shrimp or whatever other fish I have. The last two pics were on first day i got it. Most of the pictures after that it has sand all over because it spends half of its day rearranging the scape. I'm working on putting some rocks for more hiding spaces if anyone has any recommendations shoot em. I also attatched a video of me giving it some tilapia.

Been waiting! So you have it devised from the wolf correct? I was gonna suggest to be careful if otherwise, it already has a size advantage. Their growth may be in par with each other though. If your wolf grows like mine that is. Looks gorgeous, yet another hobbyist I can envy and live vicariously through lol

Yes I have them divided wolf n irwinis on their own side APURE on the other but I hope to keep get em together in due time but who knows. I do notice the wolf has grown faster than the APURE since being in the 120 but then again that could also just be because I see the wolf less. Yeah someone on here put a video up of their APURE eating their black wolf. How big is your wolf? Mine loves tilapia and shrimp.

Sharptoothbass I believe, or he posted the apure eating a wyckii for sure. But there was a big size difference there, his apure was about a foot I believe give or take, and the wolf and wyckii were closer to 8". It ate both and now is with his female marble goby and maybe still water cows, unless he changed the whole set up, hasn't updated in a while.

My wolf is 14" roughly, slowed down a lot, doesn't eat as much as he used to. Eats massivore, freeze dried shrimp and krill. Occasionally I take shrimp before my sister seasons and cooks it. Never ate worms when I gave them to the bichirs. First wolf that hasn't eaten worms for me actually.

I think your wolf and apure will slow around the same size, and they have the same potential max size. So might work out long term with a big tank. Just have to watch the irwinis, they have slow growth rates, with the apure already being bigger it'll only leave them behind most likely.

Yeah I beleive me and sharp got our fish from the same place. That shop also currently has adult black wolf at about 18" which is the whole reason I thought it could work but we will see down the road. My wolf has ate everything I've thrown in the tank from worms massivore shrimp tilapia crayfish. The hardest problem I have is getting the irwinis to eat. The APURE searches for the food as soon as it hits the water. I already have the tank they'll be upgrading to so I would look to keep them all together but if I have to hold the irwinis back thats fine.

18" must be a brute and beauty at the same time lol. Wolves happen to be my favorite group of fish. I keep up with sharp's threads cause marble gobys were once my favorite and still hold a place in top 10 for me. I actually required one recently, it was 7" probably 8"
Now. I love it, it follows me like a cichlid, begs for food 24/7 rarely hides. Will eat worms out of my hand as well, haven't tried anything else.

Glad to hear you have the upgrade already, just let the wolf catch up in size or even pass the apure by some if it seems to begin to do so. I think they can work. I'd surely try it myself if I had a big enough tank. But apure's mass keeps me away from them, and the fact that, JL has shown proof of them getting large where as with blacks the biggest reported and consistently updates on here was to 18-19". Greenerinks shared a picture of a 2' one I believe.

JL had a similar sized apure with aimaras, both around 24". Curupira are stockier, so it's very well possible. Just depends if you can get the curu to its potential, very few have managed to do so in the u.s. The ones I've seen that claimed it said they couldn't share pictures I assumed the tank was maybe to small or they had them in a state where wolves are illegal. I hope to grow my curu to its potential. When I think of this it makes me want to rehome everyone and focus on him solely. But I really like my other fish. Some I could rehome but not all which makes it pointless.

I use to have a picture of the wolf of my phone but I'll try to get one this week when I got to the shop it's massive every bit of scary and in a 75 gallon so you can see how big it is. But I understand what you mean about the wolf I would love to get it to that size this would be my 2nd wolf and the first one I got at 8" grew it to 13" didnt even realize how big it was till the day I sold it which I regret. This one I got at 4-5" with the irwinis 3.5". Yeah I can't wait to put them in the other tank but they are growing in the 120 only 4 fish. Ima try to feed the curu a little more see if it helps speed up the growth rate.

Look forward to seeing it. And remember small feedings multiple times work better than less frequent large feedings.
