My aqua clear 110 is so noisy please help.

Hi,

I hadn't used my AC 110 hob filter in a couple weeks so I decided to clean it out and run it again. It seems to have all the pieces however, the magnet that holds the impeller seems to bounce a lot and creates this horrible screeching sound.
Is there any way to fix it or should I buy another impeller or motor

It's too bad, cause everything else works but the magnet.

Just to make sure, you did clean out the impeller well, there would be nothing in there that could cause the noise?

Sounds like your impeller is worn. I would try replacing that first.

If it is still noisy then replace the motor

I definitely do not have anything stuck in there. But I think you may be right. I might have to replace a piece.

thank you sick bugs. I agree. I actually tried to run it dry too to see what the problem is and it appears to be very unsteady where the impeller is connected to the motor.

I ended up just running it at the risk of it making that annoying noise and it now seems to have settled into place! Hurray!

Sounds like you had self healing magnetic flat spot.

Whatever that is...
