What do you guys think of this set up for my GT and JD as well as two pictus catfish? Looking for suggestions I have slate I could add to the tank.

Yes it is a 55. Should I add more caves or is that good and approximate how long til I would have to upgrade? The fish are 3.5 inches at the moment.
I think your decor is fine, it’s hard to say when you’ll have to upgrade, but you will know when one starts to dominate the tank and keeps the other in the corner or tries to kill it. So I would just be prepared and watch for that, my guess would be before they reach 6-8”
Thank you. I have a 125 gallon ready for whoever is the not dominate one and one will remain in the 55.
What is the plan for the one left behind? A 55g would be too small long term IMO.
An 8 -9 inch green terror can live in a 55 gallon tank and happily live. If he grows bigger then that I will put him in my 90 gallon tank.
Understand, but if you have the availability a bigger tank is always going to be better for the fish.
I agree, a 55 is a little narrow, a 75 would be ok for one of them due to the width and can be had fairly cheap
