I have no idea what the hell is going on with my tank. First I get a parasite infection on it and 19 fish out of 24 die:irked:  , so I bought an Eheim Classic 2215, and 9W UV sterilizer to add to the tank. I just did a water change it's the first in about 2, maybe 3 weeks, which I know is really bad but it's one of the few periods of time in which I didn't do a weekly or bi-weekly WC. Well I just got the python Gravel Vacuum also and used it for the first time. I took out about 35-45% of the water in my 44 Pentagon and added the appropriate doses of Nova-aqua, and amquel. Next thing I know a few minutes later the tank LITERALLY SMELLS KIND OF LIKE EGGS!!!  . My question is how the hell is this happening???? Please help, thanks for your time

Hydrogen sulfide

Gravel vac, water changes, get any dead material out of your tank. H2S is a product of some anaerobic metabolism. I bet that your parasite infection was the result of this poison weakening your fishes immune systems. If you have sand, you may end up loosing all your fish and having to replace the substrate.

lol ok any idea of how to get rid of it? O woops didn't see the bottom part of your response for some reason. Thanks for the help

When your tank gives you eggs, make breakfast! All you need is some toast, bacon, and hashbrowns. Mix them in a blender and slowly add this mixture to your tank. Soon a crappy eggy smell will turn into a mouth watering breakfast smell!:cool-1:

I have never used nova aqua but I use Prime by Seachem to condition my water and it has a distinct sulphur smell to it.

activated carbon. :)
I have the carbon that came with the Eheim Classic, and 2 filter cartridges for a penguin 200. I'm doing like a 90% WC. I'm down to 3 fish out of 24:irked:

I'm so depressed I can't even laugh at this:( . I might as well just leave the hobby cause I suck at it. Ever since my aunts Boyfriend watched the tank and killed most of the fish I've lost like a Ratio of 5:50. with the first number being the number of fish I lost the first Months after starting it including cycling, and the latter number being a guesstimated number I've lost since then. I'm so pissed of right now I can't even describe it, and I feel like a complete idiot compared to all of you. Thanks for reading my rant

yea I thought it might be that too, but it's way too strong in the tank to be that.

have you taken any notice of this reply, do you have sand it sounds like you have some anaerobic dead areas in your sand.
moving the sand and doing a water change after it may help and it really smell eggy.
