So my 3 Armies are about 2.5 to 3 inches now. I started starving them about 2 weeks ago so they haven't eaten since.

I've tried jigging with fish filets for one week now. Every day I'd be there with my little bamboo stick and fishing line with a sliver of Tilapia filet bouncing up and down with no response. I figure they have to be starving but they just didn't care for it. I've had Armies before and I did even less to train them onto non live. All I did was throw the filets in and they would go nuts. These guys just wouldn't go for it. So I figure I would throw in some Hikari sticks just for the heck of it and they ate it!

Maybe it's personalities or maybe the sticks have better scent. I don't know. All I know is now they are trained on sticks and I don't have to deal with cutting up tilapia filets. Bonus!

Nice! I've had more success pellet training fish with hikari food sticks than any other food.

Awesome, usually it's harder to get them on pellets than it is tilapia. Hikari food sticks definitely have more of an odor than fish, might be why they went for it more readily.

What kind of Hikari sticks and did you soften them first? Getting ready to convert my trio............

Very awesome! Just he careful with him hitting his face on the lids ... Payara are a stubborn fish, and I've noticed dont like changing their diet ... mine started eating massivore at 3-4 inches and literally wont look at anything else ... IMO pellets are the best food so thats an amazing step! Those boys will be monsters in no time!

Theres only one kind....Hikari foodsticks, the jumbo sticks are the same thing just a bigger size.

lucky, my armatus wouldn't even get close to any pellets. Tryed hikiri carnvores and aro sticks with absolutely no luck.
