Hey guys,

Guess this is my first post here, but been doing a lot of reading here in the past month.

I bought an arowana from a very good store here, I don't think it had any diseases or anything. I have never seen it take food, and I have never seen the count of the feeding fish that I put in its tank. One day I filled the tank with about 100 feeders mixed with platty, molly, guppy and gold, and I think it never ate.

After about 3 weeks, it got too tired to swim, but was live, and the next morning it was floating belly up.

It was an 8 inch baby. I need to get another one. Any suggestions?

feeders are bad for any fish they can cary ich and other diseases, try feeding them crickets and freeze dried jumbo krill mine love it especially the crickets!

Are you a troll? If not, don't get another one until you have more fishkeeping experience. Try some beginner fish first.

Did you cycle this tank? The amount of feeders you added likely significantly increased bioload. Did you ever test Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate? Did the fish eat at the store? Are all of the feeder fish still alive, or have you been pulling out bodies (indicating they introduced parasites or disease)? Sorry for all of the questions, but this stuff is important. Lastly, do you actually have the resources to care for this fish (a huge tank, huge filtration) if you purchase another? They grow quickly. Silvers require more room, about 400 gallons, to be properly cared for; Jardinis require less room, maybe 250 gallons or so, but are so mean to tankmates that they are often the only fish in the tank. Just some things to think about before you purchase another.

I dont think it was his fault if it never ate right from the get-go, it couldve but it also could have had other problems. But he should make sure his tank is ready for one if he gets another. But no need to call him a troll thats kinda messed up

whoa, i didn't expect any personal attacks on this forum. thanks mate

First of wtf are u doing bro..... How big is your tank??? keeping 100 random fish in your tank with your arowana?
How would you feel in his shoes?
Okay for experience i had a Silver arowana and it died about 7 months ago because i over feed it. Also you have to change your water occasionally when your water gets dirty... 100 fish wow they shiiiit like crazy.

Srry, not a personal attack, just covering my bases. Seems like either someone trying to get a negative response from serious fish keepers or someone that probably doesn't know what they are doing....just being honest.

I made an 8x3x2 feet tank for this arowana, cycled it, checked for ammonia and pnemonia and everything there is... never mind guys, thanks for all your help. i guess i'll grow gold fish and guppies in it now.
