My arowana got out of tank,, gutted

My new arowana about 8 inches long managed to get out of a half inch gap in my tank lid, I found him dead on the floor, I was gutted been feeding him up for 3 weeks, doesn't matter how long you been keeping fish , you're still messed up, another lesson learned,

Brutal, I love arowanas but that is why I don't have one. I have had it happen to.

Arowana are the biggest headache in terms of keeping them inside your tank. That's why I try to not keep them. Once spooked you'd be surprised what they can do

Especially once they get large and you feel you have a properly weighted/secured top and they still manage to knock it off and plunge to their death sorry for your loss.

I have heard of arowanas breaking glass aquarium tops. I think that netting would be the best option.
