My 2 foot long arrowana has stopped eating about 2 months ago. I read somewhere online that they tend to fast for periods of time. She looks a little lethargic but otherwise fine. Doesn't appear to be thinning either. A couple of days ago I did 50% WC but so far nothing has changed. Please advise

Tell us about water parameters:
PH, NO3, NO2, Ammonia, Temp...

What Aro was eating usually. What tank mates ? What tank size ?

Did something change inside your tank ?

Tank is a 500 G with only a small RTG , 3 inch GT.

Temp 70-75 degree
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20-40ppm

I usually feed floating stick, frozen silverside and once in a blue moon a stip of chicken. BTW i don't believe in feeding live food as it is inhumane IMHO.

Just now I changed another 50% WC and she seems a bit more active but no feeding still :(

HELPPPPP

Turn off lights. Temp is too low for Arowana. Rise to 78-80F.

If your PH is 6.0 - 7.7 everything else looks OK...

Did you change anything inside the tank ?

You think the temp has something to do with her appetite? here in Houston it's 77 degree. my tank is in the garage with no heater so Im guessing the water temp is about a little over 70.

I have no light directly over the tank. Nothing was moved inside the tank at all.

Buy a heater and maintain a tropical temp 80-82* for your aro. Don't know if this is the reason for it not eating, but definitely not proper care.

Greater temperature, higher metabolism. Fish are eating more and better if the water has a higher temperature.

Your is too low. Huston temp. is not what we have in Brazil ;)
