Hey guys, so i joined the catfish club and got a 3-4" Asian Red Tail... for like 6-7 bucks at Wal-Mart!!! can you believe that lol. He looks to be in great shape and ive noticed a couple of the small goldfish ive had in there have dissapeared but only like 2 in the past 3 days.. and only at night when the lights are off. Are these guys hard to get off live food and what are some good foods to try because he doesnt even look twice at the shrimp pellets i throw in there. I just want him to start eating and get him used to me feeding him so hes not so afraid all day, He will be a monster some day tho! - Holmes

dont give it feeder it is bad for the fish give it worms or kril
6-7 buck is hight for thet fish $3 is the going rate

I was just suprised to see it at wal-mart and its not a bad price for around here. He doesnt even look twice at krill, or at pellets i have sink down there... and he has only ate a couple feeders in the pas 4 days. I hope he comes out of his shell and starts eating... im gonna try some worms tomorrow

I dont know about $3 for an asian red tail anywhere. I would try shrimp, prawns or pre cooked shrimp meat. `but if you do feeders I would do guppies.

Great pick up!!! Some cats can be very hard to get off live food! I would do guppies or white clouds! Some cats never come off live and some will but if he eats live now continue till he is healthy then try switching him off them! it is not good to try until he has established himself!!!
I would love to have one of those but around here not very big on selection of fish!:(

dont worry to much about no activity in daytime as these fish are nocturnal. my artc only comes out about a half hour after all lights are out.really shy, i cant remember the last time i saw him eat, but does eat pellets, shrimp, and fresh tilapia strips. he is about 3 yrs old and about 18" kinda slow grower i got . they all vary in growth rate. he is very healthy and gettin bigger(mean as hell, he has all my dempseys running, as well as my red terror, and 22"ck). so if you take care of your cat and his water you will soon have a monster:)gl

thanks guys, i cut up a night crawler last night into a few pieces and he ate some of it! so thats a start.... ill get this guy outta his shell sooner or later
