Now, i have had a lot of monsters in my time..big cats, chiclides and a pair of big wolffish...
While you always had to keep an eye out on those, when you were cleaning the tank, they usually just kept them selfs in a corner until i had done my thing..no real drama here..

Well, my auranti, a little thing of about 13cm is actually frighting me!:D
Every time, i have to change water it looks at my fingers with a hungry glean in its eyes!..it doesn't have any fear what so ever for me!
It did manage to take a little nib a my thumb..i thought i would get a heart attack!..(no blood though)..
So far it has bitten me, tore a hole in a net, tried to eat the hose and attacked my tweezers!..those, by the way are a real blessing!:grinno:

It's still small, but when it is fully grown it is going to be real exciting to do tank maintenance!:grinno:
Are there any of you guys, that has been bitten by a fair size snakehead??
Just thinking about the first aid kit, i have to put together..lol

I just love this fish!
Here is a couple of pic's of the beauty...sorry for the rather poor quality of the pictures..they are taken with my mobile phone.

wow gorgeous snakehead
:)

are his teeth somewhat near the micropeltis?

very nice auranti...my bleheri's always jump up the water and take the prawns from my finger tips ive been bitten lots of times but no real damage yet...:)

my auranti is a bit of a psycho as well he's about 8". Every time i lift up the cover it alreadys leaps for my fingeres. However once my hands are in the water he'll very rarely bite me. And it doesn't hurt that much. Just a bit shocking at first but i'm pretty use to it now.

last year there was a guy on this site who had a micro leap out of the tank and take a chunk out of hes eye lid(cant remember who it was but he was a regular poster here)

just found the thread it was a auranti and not a micro,if you type in ,,attack from channa aurantimaculata,,in the search you will find it,,,funny read:)

Seems that these auranti's are pretty "wild"!:D
I am looking forward to when it gets big..gonna get me some scars!:grinno:

Another thing that i like with this fish, is that it has a certin educational value!..
Every time my 4 year old son is behaving real bad..i just casually drop a remark.. if he would like to say hello to the auranti..that normally gets him to settle down!:grinno: but he too loves the fish, and helps me take care of the tank and feed it..his favorite part..(and mine)
