One of my dream fish since I started keeping has been a Black Wolf. Once we moved houses 2 months ago I really started looking.. 3 weeks ago I found the perfect one, I like buying my fish as small as possible and watching them grow, so being listed at 4” was as close as I figured I’d get!
He (I’m calling it a he, anyways) arrived on December 17th in GREAT shape. True to listed size which I was thrilled about. He acclimated perfectly and ate the next day. He’s always out and about exploring the tank and so much fun to feed.
He has a 125 gallon to himself currently, not sure if I’ll add anything, I tried him with a baby Oscar and had to separate them as the Oscar was a bully and the Wolf seems MUCH happier alone (way more active, out more, etc).
I’m just so excited about this guy and wanted to share with likeminded people!

Here he is the day he arrived

Here he is today, 2 weeks later!

Really looking nice after 2 weeks.

Lovely colors. I'd recommend keeping him alone as my experience is that fish kept by themselves become more interactive. He sounds like he enjoys having the entire tank to himself as well.

Please do keep us updated as he grows.

That’s definitely what I’m leaning towards, I’d hate to add something and then him start hiding constantly like he did when the Oscar was in there!

well, I’m completely devastated.. he jumped out of his tank sometime overnight, through the one tiny opening around the filter intake. No clue why.. water parameters are fine, temp was fine. I’ve been crying all morning
Sorry for your loss .
