Gday all,My 5'' green aro has developed gill curl on 1 side.It just recently developed it. i do weekly water changes and have just added a powerhead to the tank. Its diet is prawns. Will it be ok? is there anything else i can do 2 help it? its in a growout tank at the moment which is 2' x18'' with 3 peacock bass.Any help would be greatly appreciated.thanx

What are your water parameters? Make sure you have plenty of aeration and water movement (run an airstone as well as your powerhead if you want). Best option would be to move it to a larger tank, but if that isn't possible yet, just keep your water quality excellent and it should return to normal.

Low nitrates are a must to prevent gill curl!

Yeah,i have 2 powerful air stones in the tank already with an eheim and an a extra powerhead running which gets the water circulating well. i hooked the powerhead up this morning.Im waiting to put them in my 8 fta but ive still got a 45cm ClownKnife in there which im trading in very shortly so they can go in there.Should i sought out the gillcurl problem before puttin the aro in the larger tank or will the bigger tank assist the gill in healing?

your aro got gill curl in its infancy stage.. that's a problem.. but as long as the gill curl is in its first stages, i mean it has not hardened yet, giving him quality water will solve this problem..

Ive had my aro in my 8fta now for a week. it seems to be getting slightly better but unsure of how long it will take to straighten back out. With good water conditions is the gill curl going to go away by itself or will i have to cut it? im hoping for the non cutting approach....fingers crossed.
