where the corruption never ends
Hi everyone,

May I ask how long does it really take for a baby jardini arowana to get used to the tank or to eat a lot?

I just bought a jardini (around 3.5"-5") yesterday and after an hour and a half in his new tank, I tried to feed him a piece of meal worm (size is almost at 1") and he ate it. Though the problem (probably mine) starts this morning when after waiting almost 10 hours to feed him again, I tossed in another mealworm (almost the same size as the first one) but he just ignored it.

Now I am thinking some IFs:

if whether the worm size has to do with the appetite of the fish
if whether the filtration can be a problem because the filter is a powerhead one
if whether the water current is too strong given the aquarium size which is 20 gal (temporary tank until I can move it to my 100)
if I should wait for some more (?) hours before feeding him
if I should wait for a day or 2 or more before he gets used to the tank and start feeding him.
or if whether meal worm is too wrong to be fed to baby jardini in so many ways you could ever think of

I'm really confused with the IFs myself so I really do appreciate a straightforward answer, not too negative though :)

Wait a little while and let him/her settle in to its new environment. If it doesn't eat after a few day I would suggest moving it to a slightly larger tank as he might feel a little cramped right now.

Pond, the 20 gal aquarium is a long type one, doesn't feel like it's cramped as he is all alone in there and the tank is about 5 x as long as him. Anyway, does it have any signs that he has already settled in the tank, I observed that he is always at the bottom swimming really fast like a little kid running on panic. Is it like adjusting or something else?

Here is a picture of my jar by the way cant get a better pic yet cause he is swimming really fast. I'll also keep this updated with pix of him growing up as I want to learn more about them from you guys :)

Yup, I think he has already settled. I just put the mealworm inside the tank, let it drowned and leave it be and surprisingly when I came back to check it out, it's already gone :) I'm just being impatient again lol. Btw, I'm just wondering about the other jars that have red spots and really dark coloration. Is that inborn or it depends on the care? Cause I saw some videos where they retain the redness and the darkish coloration until they grow up.

Hi
My baby silver was just like ur jar
He used to get spooked when I used to watch tv or move around he also was not eating anything fr like. A week and was on the well known aro starving strike.
It took my fellow more than1 month to settle in
Now he eats hikari sicks as a staple and I treat him every week with frozen foods
I are in fact lucky ur fellow is eating after 1 day
Anyway have u thought if a name fr ur new pet

Hey nick! :D yeah I was pretty glad that my jar started eating. But he's too shy too eat in front of me so I leave the food in the tank and wait for him to eat it himself.

As of now I'm feeding him mealworms (max of 2 pcs a day) but I will get him to foodsticks once he grows ups cause I'm still having doubts on myself and the fish whether he will easily accept it at a very young age :)

As for the name, I might name it Akainu so I hope it's a "He" :)

Whenever i get new aro's i feed live fish for a week max.. It doesn't eat it right away.. But by the end of the day its all missing.
The moment i see it chase down the live feed(Generally by 3-4 days) with aggression i feel confident that its active and train it to eat hikari,MP etc.
Different people take care of their arowana's by various method... This is mine
