Hi i have read a lot saying that oscars go light colored because they are scared but my oscar seems to go light when he sees me and when i feed him could he go light for the opposite that he is comfortable. My baby jag cichlid does the same thing neither are skittish at all. Also my substrate is white could this have effects on there color. Tia

My juvenile WC Tiger goes pale all the time when anyone goes in the room and he notices them. He's happy, hungry and growing like a weed after a near death encounter with our Red Texas/Regani Pike one night. He bounced back and still pales out all the time. Oscars are just weird fish, our adults do that too sometimes.
