I got this guy last Sunday. I actually thought he was an African. The store didn't know, they just knew he was "more special" than their other lungfish.

Right now he's in a ten gallon. I put him in my 29, but it was so big compared to him, and so deep, that I worried about him reaching the surface easily enough. When he gets big enough, I will move him to the 29, and then to the 100, or maybe straight to the 100. And after that, he will get as big a tank as he needs!

I love him very much. His name is Steven.

Wow...I think that's the smallest lung fish I've seen so far. Cool!

Me too! I feel really lucky. I went to this place to trade in my electric catfish, and they just happened to have this guy. They NEVER have baby lungfish. Plus, I basically got him for free b/c of the trade in.

Incidentally, I'm using him as a conversation starter to teach my friends and family about evolution.

Hopefully you don't have a bunch of creationist friends, or your efforts will probably be useless.

I actually do have one, but she's slowly coming around. I'm constantly spouting some random fact about evolution. It's my football. The things I say make sense to her. It's amazing to see the change. I too, used to be a creationist, so I do think it's worth it to try to reach (some) people.

Anyway, here are two new pictures, as requested. In the second one you can see a Philodendron leaf that's fallen behind the aquarium, for scale.
