im glad to see someone is using common sense and using a red bulb rather than a bright ass repti sun bulb type! Good on you for doing your research on their nocturnal habits.

I don't know much about snake care in general, but should they have a light that simulates day light or is it fine for them to always be in the dark?
 
You can have a fluorecent strip if you like it for viewing purposes, but just make sure the spectrum isnt too bright. Something for lowlight plants would be great. They are nocturnal by design and only come out in small occurrances during the day to get some needed body thermoregulation.... but you can still see them under the redlights.
