My dragon goby went extreme on me this morning and jumped from its tank. I had just gotten up and passed by my brackish tank and found a grayish cylindrical object on the floor. I pick it up and it doesn't move. Poor dead goby. It's already nearly dried out. Then, I thought it twitched. I looked but saw no sign of life. I really needed coffee before this, I thought. My imagination seemed would since I was drowsy. Then, out of nowhere, the goby begins violently thrashing about. I scream and the goby becomes airborne. My wife screams and ducks. My son retreats to the stairs. I put him in a cup and threw him in the tank. Seeing him sink to the bottom, it looked like a woolly caterpillar because he was covered in dog hair. I should probably vacuum that lol. It reaches the bottom and sits there. I could nearly see it moistening. Has anyone else's goby jumped? I will check on it when I get home and update.

Interesting. The goby lives with guppies, mollies, toadfish, and a moray. I do not know why it jumped but I do normally see it out at night swimming.

when it is swimming at night time does it spend the majority of its time swimming at the surface? does it frequently pop its head out of the water? how long have you had the goby? what many gallons is your aquarium and what is your SG at?

on a random note, does your toadfish try to eat the mollies?

It does tend to stick to the wall about half way to three-quarters of the way up. I've had the goby about five days. My SG is 1.008. The tank holds 125gallons and I aerate the tank.

I have yet to see the toads try to eat mollies, but they chow down on gups.

so when i first got a dragon goby, it displayed similar behavior. he would also breath very quickly for short periods of time. after two days he developed red lines near his stomach and near his tail. his stomach swelled up and the next day he died from a desese, i belive it was dropsy. im not sure if yours has a similar issue but luckily they guy where i got it from gave me a new one because he came with an illness. the goby i have now hides under my rocks almost all day, and he digs in my sand like crazy. i never see this one ever swim higher then half way up, and he only does that do perch on a rock for a minute or so.

Does he eat regularly? is he skinny? do you have any picture you can post of him? from what i know these tend to be delicate fish at first, then when they are established they are hardy as long as you do regular water changes.
