i had my two beardies in a 125 gallon tank that i had outfitted with a custom structure that I made to fit the tank and they were living like kings. hides on both sides visible through the side of the tank, stairway to get to second level... all kinds of good stuff and they loved it and were active alllllll the time. But i decided i want to try and build a front loading wood enclosure because the top loading fish tank was a pain in the a@@...i had bought the tank for $100 and sold it with everything for $375. i felt it was a steal.

i also have a boa that i would like to incoporate into the enclosure as well (seperate area but in the same piece)...Basically what i mean is i want to build one big unit..the top for my beardies and the bottom for my boa. This will not only save floor space but hopefully look visually appealing.

any suggestions on what i should do? whether i make it three different pieces (a stand, a boa enclosure, beardie enclosure) and stack them? or should i try to do one solid piece?

my thoughts:

one solid piece very heavy, and unchangable once built.
if i do multiple pieces i have to worry about keeping them connected so they dont slide or fall.

i would like to do glass sliding fronts with jewelry case locks(for the snake more so then lizards) but cant find a track anywhere... i can online but i would like to find it locally here to FT Collins Co

i will be building another structure like the one pictured for the beardies but this time i will make it one piece so my roaches cant run into gaps or underneath things

any and all help is welcomed

thanks guys and this is my first thread just an fyi

I made the fronts recessed so the plexi or glass would drop down in a groove to secure the bottom of it, then the top would rest up to the frame lined with felt pads, then either a swing down top of the frame closed and locked it, or the locking flat bar on the top that keeps the glass in place. I used ac vents to put on the outside of those big air hols to keep things in and out, I dont use screen on insides because snakes will rub their noses. Blah blah blah anyways hears some pics. I later painted the outside plywood. All treated for moisture.

yea thanks alot thats essentially what i want to build...

thank you for your comment and pics...it helps tremendously

Here is my cage design for my uros. Now the cages are kinda tall (30" to be exact) as i am planning to fit in a special light in my enclosure (megaray 160W bulb). But it could be the same concept for your tank just shorter as you are keeping a snake in there. And yes they are stackable seperate units.

These cages are 48x24x30 (lxwxh).

wow that looks amazing.. i think i found plans with exact wood dimensions. I need to alter them a bit because i am basically doing lights that are recessed. thank you guys for your help
