Any tips on breeding bettas for a novice like me? I can get them to lay eggs, but I dont know anything beyond that...

Bettas are so common that its true they are under appriecated. As far as breeding there's 100 differant ways and everyone associated with them has one.lol Just use google or the engine for your choice and look some of them up hopefully finding the one that suits you the best. They are very easy compared to many kinds of fish given the right conditions and all that good stuff. I will say that the fry are so small so their feed has to be aswell and I've had great luck along with a gazillion others by making your own live food, such as viniger eals and green water. All that is available online or you can make it yourself.
