hello and my bettas pretty pale, its got some shiny stuff on the outside of its gills, gills are pretty red near the edge of the opening, and if you see the gills when they open up you can see a slight black edge to it, also she is taking in deep breathes and was laying on the ground. so i put in some salt and turned the lights down. i was wondering if theres anything else i should do and what my betta might have wrong with her? i can't really raise the temp. because its pretty warm as it is. i haven't added a male to that tank yet so i know it wasn't another fish bothering her. my waters also really clear and i tested it for nitrates, nitrites, amonia, ph and all that stuff and it was pretty good.
thanks

she started to swim around a little more so thats an improvement

bettas can breathe from the surface, so it's unlikely to be oxygen deprived . . . a bubbler should not be needed in a betta tank

were your ammonia and nitrites at zero? zero is the only acceptable reading

This is why bettas can live in bowls without filters. Bettas actually *have* to surface to breathe.

Can you get photos?

Is she new? Sometimes when I get a new betta and put them in a tank with a filter they try to resist moving around in the tank by laying on the bottom or leaning on something that supports them. They get used to the moving water pretty quickly, though. Idk if that's her issue, though.

she already died... and i've had her for 4 months, she was in a 20 gall lots of aeration, and yes nitrites were at zero and amonia was also zero. she was just too weak
