Guess this guy isnt all that big yet, about 10 inches, but he's made it from the size of a quarter to this size in about 1.5 years so pretty impressive .... i think he's a beauty, and has been relatively easy to keep, and is always stable and pounding massivores ....wish all my other dats were as easy to keep as this one .... i seem to have very good luck with IT's, but struggle with my NTT's, NGT, and AT's, and i'm starting to think my water is just not cut out for these more delicate datnoids, but i'm gonna keep trying! Anyway, without further delay ....

I haven't noticed any difference in hardiness from one species to another with the exception of ntt but that's a nice looking dat you got. I like that 1 unclean line

I've noticed a much harder time getting all the other dats on pellets .... I have 3 IT's all eating pellets, and stuffing themselves, while my others won't eat pellets and will never eat until stuffed, just a piece of krill or shrimp here and there, so they don't grow ... my NGT was always the most active of dats, but I recently made a tank change with him and all my other dats, and their not taking it well, especially my NGT which is very unfortunate cause I like their color the most and are very hard to find .... I made a few mistakes in the tank switch in that I switched the substrate from gravel to sand and added some nice driftwood, but I didn't think about the fact that I had about 10lbs of crushed coral mixed in with the gravel, thus the removal of the coral + the addition of more wood caused a pH nose dive ..... my IT's didn't even flinch, but everyone else started flashing and not really eating .... everyone is getting back to normal now, except my NGT .... he doesn't move much, and his fins are rarely open, and he breathes a little heavy at times .... I'm hoping he improves in the next couple weeks with me adding crushed coral to my sump again .... only time will tell I guess

Ngt are wierd fish . When small ...they often lay on their sides... also all tigers look like theor gasping for air or breatjing heavy after a decent feed.
I wouldnt worry. Ngt are also one of the hardiest of all tigers.

Good to know Ade, I value your opinion very much so you give me hope .... the NGT actually does look a little better today, fins open and actually swimming around and looking curious again .... hopefully he's pulling out of his little funk

Agreed, lets see some shots of its other side.

Just a quick pic of his other side as requested, but only with my cell phone .... pretty much symmetrical with respect to that last bar being a little shaggy on both sides .... kinda neat :D
