I Had a power outage Monday night in the middle of the night for an hour plus. Checked my rays / tanks when I woke up and all was running. Got home from work about 7:00 last night and found everything turned off on my big tank. No air, filtration or heat for 4 hours! The APC battery backup unit had some kind of failure at 3:00 in the afternoon ( I could tell by the timer for my lights) killing all power. Had 3 female black rays and my 24" Chili Red Arowana in the tank. Rays and Aro were alive and breathing heavily. Thankfully I over filtrate with FX5's and was able to swap out some filters and do a large water change.

All were fine this morning.

Good save!

I always have my tanks on web cams so i can view them when we are on vacation and i have my sad well trained on how to keep up the tanks. Always have a generator ready also

No fun.
I need a better back up plan myself. I have a generator, but I have to be there to start/hook it up.

I have a generator as well but have the same problem - Need to be home to hook it up. I'm working on a backup system that I'll have up and running this weekend. It has now moved to the top of the priority list.

good to hear bud. Glad that BD and the rest are doing well!

Thanks Mike. I'd be devastated if anything happened to him.

I need to look into one of these. What system are you using?

Wow...congrats on everyone surviving.

Thanks

That's good everything worked out for you! I just had the power go out last week as a power pole caught on fire and they had to turn the power off to fix it. It was off for a couple hours but it happened before I went to work for midnight shift. I booked off the first couple hours of work and hooked up the generator. Before I went to work the power came back on and I plugged everything back in. Doesn't take long for things to go South when the power goes out for extended periods of time.
