I did not do this myself, it was done by professionals, cost too much, and I love it to death. Took 2 weeks from scratch, only thing there before was the two retaining walls.

Looks Frank Lloyd Wright-ish. Ed, what do you call this, "Fallingwater"?:-D

Are you planning on koi or goldfish, or both? Looks great, and is that a planter
above the pool for more plants? B-)

Hi Ed,
very nice!
If i ever own a house with garden, there will be a pond too. My school day friend had one (to be more exact, two), we spent many hours studying the life under the surface and above.
It is like keeping fishes - you create a new little world.

I would not use goldfishes or kois. Depending on the temperatures, i would try some tropical fishes at least in the summer season. Perhaps they will multiply, grow fast and you get some money back ;-)
Or the birds around get some extra meal...

Thanks guys.

Bill, no Koi, or goldfish, I REALLY dislike those fish. Dont know for sure what to put there, but probably will be some natives, really like these, Notropis lutipinnis, yellowfin shiner:

Maybe a Turtle instead, red year slider or something similar, like a Map turtle.

And there are two retaining walls, so all around the "falls" it will be planted heavily, going with swamp plants (already in there) to marginals and then terrestial plants around. The walls will be barely visible in the end. It's a HUGE hill in my yard, about 40 feet tall or more. Had to move it back by doing terraces so decided to make them special.

The rock was all cut on site, from big slate pieces. Two types the gold one and the "black" one, were used and were all cut into strips that were then laid out by the designer to make the falls. Pretty breathtaking stuff in real life, and incredibly done in 2 weeks. I will post some pictures from the build period later.

Kewl! Ed. I'm not fond of koi and goldfish, either, but that seems to be the
"default fish" people use for their watergardens and ponds. Those yellowfin
shiners would be nice! For turtles stock snapping turtles and tell guests
they are welcome to wade in the pool, you can videotape the results! Just kiddin'...

Looking forward to the construction phase pics! :)

Just wanted to add, it looks pretty grand now, but it will look fabulous once you get the rest
of the plants set in!
