When do they start to loose the external gills?

Pretty sure delhezi takes longer to lose, and it's been a long time since I had one, but I think it's somewhere around 7"​

I bought my delhezi at 5" and it didn't have it's external gills any more

anywhere from 5-7 inches, but depends on this fish really. It just varies.

Personally I like the external gills haha it reminds me of an axolotl that is illegal in my state

My ornate still has tiny stubs and it has been about six months since I brought him home. Now about 10".
