Here's my birthday present I got yesterday! :nilly: In the one pic, his tank is the one on the left.

It's a captive bred baby male Rampholeon brevicaudatus, better known as the bearded pygmy chameleon.

very cool. Keep us posted. I like his tank too.

He just caught a cricket on a leaf across from him by shooting out his tongue! Very awesome! He is so entertaining to watch. Plus, his eyes just turned a pale greenish color! Once he is all settled I am definitely going to try and find 2 females. :naughty:

Just a question. Don't they need a screen cage? I though chameleons needs loads of ventilation to survive.

I believe it is different for pygmy's, they are not like typical cams.

That's why I asked. Wasn't sure if it was the same for them. Thanks for clarifying.

No, they do not need a screen cage. I actually have been researching them for a while, and it seems they thrive and breed in glass tanks. I guess, because they come from the leaf litter, they do not require much airflow. They need humidity of at least 75% in order to do well. So the glass with a plexiglass lid really helps with that. The upkeep seems to be very similar to dartfrogs, except they need slightly larger prey and lots of climbing branches.

lmao at the last four posts with Kevin and Snakeguy, thanks guys lol. With some research it seems nobody is for certain on the caging. I see some say tropical and around 75 temp. Seems most say they are hardy other than heat spells. I would imagine a screen top with glass sides is good depending on the size of the enclosure. Dont let them over heat whatever you do.

Awesome little guy and cool tank! How many gallons is it? I have been looking for a smaller herp to get and I may have just decided.
