My hoplias sp. xingu black has officially come out of his shell. This is a video of him chasing my finger. I didn't make it too long because he was hitting the glass pretty hard. Its his temporary home until his 6'x2' tank is ready for him. He flares at me all the time and reminds me a lot of a red devil the way he'll defend his tank. Who said wolf fish were boring??

if i have to i only stick my hand in there if he's on the other side of the tank. if he isn't i just stay there and wait until he loses interest in me. a couple of times i've had my hand in and saw him flare at it from the other side of the tank and thats when i take my hand out. just have to know where the fish is at all times. that fish loves to attack the gravel vac though :naughty:
 
^ i dont know man mine isn't so boring. i guess it's a matter of taste though. i changed the water today and he was going nuts attacking the gravel vac. its getting real hard to clean his tank. this fish is a lot more active than your typical h. malabaricus (common wolf). he is always swimming in mid/top water looking for food and loves to flare at you through the glass.
