I Have a 90 gal. Ciclid Tank. I noticed that 2 of my Parrots were moving the gravel around for 2-3 days. Then today I noticed that 1 of them layed eggs. I know that most all of the parrots are starile, But I have a bunch of other ciclids in the tank. I dont think the eggs have been fertilized because the 2 Parrots wont let any other fish by them. I thought both were females, but Im not sure. Will 2 females act like a pair and guard there eggs??? Also if the eggs have been fertilized how long until I have little fish swimming around???? Ive had the tank for about a year, but have never had the fish lay eggs. I just changed what I was feeding them a week or so ago, could this have something to do with them laying egsg??? Sorry about all the questions, and thanks for the help.

I had two female BPs that synced their egg cycles and both layed eggs in the same pot at the same time. They would guard them for about 2-4 days then eat them. I thought it was normally males that were sterile and females had a better chance of being fertile.

Get a male that can fertilize those eggs.

well, those eggs should growing fungus in a day or 2. then they will eat those eggs. this's only happen to young female fish, which this is the first time picking their mate and lay eggs. so they confuse about their partner male for female.

to breed her again and make sure eggs will be firtile, you need a mature male, which could be red devil/midas or flowerhorn. but he need to be at least 7" and above.
young male are not ready to mating plus will attack female fish.

hope that would help.

When the fish first came out, all were sterile....The developer did not want anyone breeding them back in the day....Today, though, I have seen spawns from, what seemed, "pure" BPz...
