out of no where my male bluegill has been chasing the female. he dosnt chase any other fish just here. could they be breeding. i have no idea i thoght bluegills did the hole nest thing
Not sure what it could be, sounds more like aggresion than breeding. Has the male shown any other signs? Have his colors brightened up? Normally the male will dig a pit to spawn in.
i have seen some dug out spots on the gravel in the morning but they dont stay it it. he has colored up a little, not a lot. the female tho is stress out and has the bars running down her sides
ya know one swims above a thing of busy plants that i have and then faces up toward the top and fans it with its tail. they both are getin a lot of color and if there not chaces each other there dancing around each other
usualy those fish spawn at the site of full moons i have done a little reasearch about them and studied their behaviors and all... not a full blown scientist lol only 17 but i live near a lake and i have this fren who has a 200 gallon tank with a "school" bluegill... i love bluegill
