I have a 3 larger pieces of Mopani wood in a 55g grow out tank that has developed some of that white slimy fungus that comes and goes. There has to be at least 10 threads a week about this stuff growing on other people's Mopani and a common response is that if you have a BN plec they will munch on this stuff and help keep it down.

Well, I moved my guy into this tank on Saturday and so far he hasn't even touched the stuff :screwy:.

Question to all this, I'll be having several pieces of this wood in my 125g setup, is there a type of plec that actually WILL think this stuff is tastey? I am prepared to change up my proposed stock list to an extent to get a pleco that likes this stuff.

how long has the pleco been in the tank you may just need to give it time

Yeah he's only been in there since Saturday, I suppose I'll give him a week before I start naming him slack.

I think the slimey fungus needs to be dealt with separately. I doubt any fish will eat it, including bristlenose plecos. They will keep your wood algae fee though.
