My stingray tank is boring to look at....it's not the fish...they are awsome.:headbang2The want the tank to look better though. I had a 4.5ft peice of driftwood in the tank but took it out. Right now there is just sand and one meduim sized skull in the corner for the niger catfish. I was thinking about slate but it's to sharp. I'm switching my tank from tank sand to black sand so something that will look nice with black sand. I was thinking about some tall plants along the back what what kinds are easy to take care of?

I'm open to all suggestions.:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

Plants will most likely be dug up. You might try some large artificial plants. They can be floated on the top or suction cupped to the sides or back of the tank.

You could keep your sand and try rock from rundle mountain, you should be able to get it at your local aggregate shop. That's what i have and i only had to rub off a couple sharp edges and the rays love it :) HTH

If i were you i would pick up/ collect some new driftwood, someting that isnt yet waterlogged so it floats. If you can find some nice looking root system and float it, it would leave the bottom open for the stingray but still ad a display peice to look at, from there you could attack plants to the driftwood, so nothing is actually on the bottom of the tank, like a small floating ecosystem above them !

good idead dc. if anyone has something like this i would like to see it. but for his situation he took out his pleco so nothing is cleaning the wood so wouldnt work for him.

If you go w/the black sand, a couple of Dwarf Albino BN's will go to town on the wood. I have never heard of BN's going after slime coat. The fake plants along the back glass would look realy good and leave plenty of floor space.

How about a school of mid-upper level tetras (congos) or barbs for color and action? Filamentosus, Arulius, and Spanner barbs get to be a decent size 3-5" and don't need a diet w/more veggies like some. I am also a fan of Rainbows for dithers for there size and colors. All of these fish are dependant upon other tankmates to not be food.
