Hello all
I thought it was time I post a few about my forays into brackish and sw.
For the heck of it I went into walmart this christmas time and found that their special fish of the week was violet gobies at $7.99/. So I bought all that they had and ran home and took some of my sw stuff and converted one of my 60g fw into brackish. I lost 1 of the 9 in the first week and then another 2 months later but 7 of them survived and are doing great.
I recently moved them upstairs from my basement to my living room as I need to take all evidence of life out of my basement so I can do the demo and reno of my fish room. I set them up now in a 75g tall. I dont have many pics of the tank but this one where my youngest son who has never seen them is totally enthralled with them. Even though he was feeling totally sick with a cold he had to make sure that dad knew about these fish. He has never seen them since my brackish tank was in the basement and my basement is a mess that has all my future fish company gear and some restaurant stuff in it cheaper than storage lololol. So he woke up the morning after I moved it upstairs and my wife says was transfixed by these fish.
and yesterday morning the kids come get me all worried because one of the gobies is vertical and stuck to the glass and he must be dead because he is not moving, till I showed them that he definitely moved from the handle I stuck in the water.
I have to say that others may have success with putting their gobies in full sw, but I tried that for one day and will never do that ever again. for sure they are a brackish fish in my studies.
Yesterday I went to get some fish food for my daughteres red devil and the pet store still had 4 knight gobies that they have had for a while so I bought them and added them to the tank. I will take some shots when I get home.
What I am wondering is this, is there any kind of crab or type of snail or invertibrate that will go well in a brackish set up.
For flashes of color I am going to add some mollies since they can be acclimated to brackish.
