Very excited today. My locally owned and operated had a 300gal tank that I truly love. The tank is not the big deal but the tankmates are, one of which is a giant (15-16 inches) giraffe catfish (Auchenoglanis occidentalis). I love that fish. They come from west Africa and they are currently out of season. I thought I would have to wait till the summer. Today, he had two (I immediately took one and may be back for the other soon). He is about 5 inches long and very active. He is great! Currently, he is in a 55gal with a 7-8 inch Silver Arowana, a 5-6 inch Clown Knife fish, two iridescent sharks and a pleco (pleco is going to my 65 gallon the minute it gets some algae, I just set it last week). they are in that tank temporarily until I finish my plywood 225 gal tank (their future new home).
Haven't named it yet (don't know gender). Meet my new Giraffe!!
