I think part of it may be the rock and lighting. Nice looking guy.

Lights could be the cause. Blk gravel or sand should darkn them up not make em look washed.I have blk sand/gravel in almost all my tanks n they don't look pale like that.he is nice looking just looks stressed to me.I'd like to see more pics for sure.looks still young too, might just be startn to get his colors too.tank temp could be low.

that rhom looks like a xingu rhom the humeral spot and yellow gill plate kindashow that it does have xingu rhom traits but then again xingu river is in brazil.
