A few months ago when i bought a piece of live rock i found a brittle starfish hiding inside it! It's been living under a piece of rock ever sinse and seems harmless and hardly ever comes out. But i recently heard that they can kill off fish in your tank! is this true?

And also I saw it come out for the first time in ages yesterday and i was watching it and it released a weird purple spray :S

Any ideas as to what that is??

I know that they are very aggressive, I was at my local pet store the other day and they got one in at the same time as a bi-color angel and the angel was so small it ended up dying so they put it in the tank with the starfish and it first attacked it then I watched it drag it in and eventually eat it and I also watched it grab a snail or hermit crab- and drag it in- idk if it ate it though- So I know once it gets big enough it would definitely be dangerous to your fish.-- I have no idea what the purple stuff is though!

hmm i may have to get rid of it then. i can't find anywhere on the internet that says anything about the purple stuff that it released! :s
